Description
Haven on High combines historic charm with modern comforts, perfect for guests who want to immerse themselves in a rejuvenating space that is wholly and authentically Tasmanian.
The church retains a rich history – a significance you feel as soon as you walk through the arched double doors. The heritage-listed bluestone building contains striking architectural features throughout including intricate stained-glass windows, a high vaulted ceiling with massive beams, and beautifully restored hardwood floors. First opened as a religious building in 1879, the church has been through many lives since being deconsecrated in the 1960s, including serving as a wool museum, gallery, coworking space, and even a cafe before being thoughtfully converted into a residence for all to appreciate.
The church accommodates up to five guests. The mezzanine bedroom sleeps three, with both a queen bed and single bed available, while the vestibule on the ground floor sleeps an additional two guests in bunks. The large sanctuary is set up in several zones which flow one to the next, including a dining space, gaming area, lounge, and work station. Beneath the mezzanine is a fully-equipped kitchen, full bath, and half bath. An outdoor courtyard complete with firepit and outdoor seating is also available for your private use.

Meet your host,
Matt Collins
I was fortunate to be raised by parents who value active community involvement, which led to many rewarding experiences working and socialising with the at-risk youth, elderly, and unhomed individuals across our region. Now that I have an opportunity to share a unique property with others, one of my greatest joys is seeing people from all backgrounds enjoy the rejuvenating experience of Tasmania's relaxed pace, combined with the awe-inspiring features of our heritage-listed church.
