Description
Myola Farmhouse is the quintessential Queenslander, sitting proudly atop the rolling green hills of Dayboro on spectacular Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi country.
Her restoration has been a labour of love, we have incorporated reclaimed materials, vintage fittings, handmade joinery and a curated range of family heirlooms, art and trinkets found during renovations. The beauty of traditional Queensland architecture is showcased; charming wrap around verandahs, VJ’s, high ceilings, french doors and hopscotch windows. The views are from the house are spectacular; of mountain ranges and rolling hills, of Moreton Island and the sparkling lights of Brisbane city.
Myola's large country kitchen features a freestanding Falcon cooker, farmhouse ceramic sink, extended butcher’s block and traditional kitchen table. The kitchen is well stocked with tea, coffee, sugar and oil as well as everything you might need for cooking and dining. This space flows onto the veranda and outdoor dining table for long lunches and family dinners.
There are 3 spacious bedrooms (Bedroom 1: 1x King size bed, Bedroom 2: 1x Queen size bed, Bedroom 3: 2x King Single beds), with the beds luxuriously dressed in quality linen. Additional guests can be accommodated on fold out beds (on request / additional fees).
The main bathroom features a beautiful clawfoot tub, perfect for a relaxing soak. The second bathroom has the cutest walk in shower, with quality personal care products provided.
There is a cozy lounge room with TV, and what used to be the ‘ball room’ is a spacious second lounge area with comfy leather couches and lovely wood burner.
The traditional wrap around veranda has various spots perfect for a cup of tea or a beverage whilst admiring the views from all sides.
A short walk up the hill from the house you will find a firepit area with views of Brisbane City and Moreton Island; the perfect spot for star gazing.
...
Being somewhat of an elderly lady, Myola has a few ‘heritage’ quirks. Whilst she does not have air conditioning, her hilltop location ensures an ever present breeze, with ceiling fans also installed throughout. The beautiful fig tree adjacent the house also provides natural temperature regulation.
Her timber changes with the weather, causing windows to stick, or gaps in the VJs or floorboards to widen and the like.
We ask guests to be conscious of their water usage, as Myola is on tank water. Whilst Dayboro and surrounds used to be known as ‘God’s Country’ due to its high rainfall, it is not as much, as regular or predictable as it once was.
We are in a rural setting and are lucky enough to spot wildlife regularly, including kangaroos, wallabies, all manner of birds, frogs, snakes and lots of insects.
Phone reception is excellent, but wifi is not available. Take the opportunity to disconnect, relax and recharge!
We find beauty in all (well... most) of her foibles, but… if these quirks sound more like inconveniences to you, this property may not be suitable for your needs.
